Okinawa has adopted special measures aimed at economic growth by capturing the vitality of significant growth of Asia, including tax deductions for income (up to 40%) and tax related incentives to promote capital investments, that are not available in other prefectures.

In Okinawa, various incentives are adopted to reduce the financial burden associated with establishing a new business, and support is provided for the companies based in Okinawa for their development and growth.
Improvement of the air cargo capabilities of Naha Airport will strengthen Okinawa's international logistics capabilities functioning as a transit point in East Asia. New businesses in the air and marine industry, that utilize these logistics capabilities, will be encouraged to be established adjacent to Naha Airport and Naha Port, which will form an international logistics hub.
Situated between main island of Japan and East Asian/South Asian countries, Okinawa has the geographical advantage of connecting Japan with other Asian countries. With such advantage, Okinawa is drawing attention as an "emerging business hub" that has a potential to acquire the large and dramatically expanding markets throughout Asia.
Okinawa's aim is to utilize IT to bridge between Japan and Asian countries as an international information and communication hubor "IT Bridge."Itsgoal is that, by promoting more domestic and international companies to be established in Okinawa, the companies in Okinawa can besophisticatedand diversified in the areas related to information and communication. Therefore, information and communication related companies in the zones/areas can receive the preferential treatment by the special provisions for taxation.
Okinawa Prefecture developed a “Tourism Destination Promotion Plan” for creating attractive tourism destinations with excellent international competitiveness. This plan enables investors to receive exceptional treatment including an investment tax credit on national taxes and tax exemption of local taxes when establishing or expanding tourism-related facilities within the Program for Tourism Destination Promotion Zones (entire Okinawa).
